Dutchland takes the New Jersey Dirty Dames!!!
On Sunday, August 19th 2007, the Dutchland All-star crew traveled to Kendall Park, NJ to face the New Jersey Dirty Dames' Hubcity Hellrazors! The Dutchland girls were ready for the challenge, coming off last month's win against the previously-undefeated Coal City Rollers. The Hellrazors were most recently defeated by the Wilmington City Ruff Rollers, but it was a close and well-played game. Each team had to bring their A game!
Period one began with Dutchland jammer, Lucy Van Belt, up against, Hellrazor, A-Bomb. Van Belt was able to score 4 points to A-Bomb's 2. Next up, Dutchland's Spawna Skatin' scored 3 points, while Hellrazor, Carmen Monoxide was shut out. Torque Wench came out in jam 3, putting another 3 points on the board for Dutchland to A-Bomb's 4. Jam 4 saw Dutchland's Twisted Scissors, and Hellrazor, Big Bad Wolfe, both shut out, scoring no points. Hellrazor's Shermaine Tank was able to score 3 points to Van Belt's 2 in jam 5. The next 12 jams of the 30 minutes period went on in a similar fashion, with each teams trading off between 1 and 3 points each jam, with several shut outs. By the end of period one, Dutchland had a slight lead of 30 to 24.
In addition to the jammers mentioned in period one, each team showcased fantastic blocking within the pack. Mental Block, Eden Mydust, Kap'n Krush, Ricochet Rabbit, Infrared, Fender SmackHer, Bone Crawford, Elle Toro, V-Rod Destroyer, and Don't Care Bear made up New Jersey's blocking crew. Meanwhile, Dutchland brought along for the ride their blockers; Rachel Slur, White Thrash, Stompin Lizzy Stanton, Josie Cuervo, Fujiyama Mama, Rum N. Choke, Bunny McBones, Treasure Chest, Laverne N. Surly, and Hillbilly Hellcat.
Period two found the crowd and the skaters ready for more! Half-time entertainment provided by the local Girls and Boys Club Double Dutch Team pumped up the inspiration on the track. Dutchland was determined to come out swinging and swing they did! Jam one had Lucy Van Belt scoring 5 points to Shermaine Tank's 0. Not satisfied to be shown up by her teammate, Spawna Skatin' came into jam two, securing 6 more points for Dutchland and again leaving the Hellrazor jammer scoreless! Hellrazor, A-Bomb answered back in jam 3 with 4 points, to Torque Wench's 2, but Twisted Scissors of Dutchland responded in jam four with 5 points to Big Bad Wolfe's 0. For the remaining 14 jams of the period, the Hellrazors used their star jammer, A-Bomb frequently and she was able to throw up 3, 4, and 5 points during each Dutchland match up. Despite her efforts, Dutchland put in jammer, White Thrash who was able to answer with a 4 and 6 point jam herself. Going into the final jam, the score was 77 to 58 with Dutchland in the lead. Dutchland threw on a power play line-up with blockers, Hillbilly Hellcat, Treasure Chest, Rachel Slur, and White Thrash with Lucy Van Belt as jammer. Van Belt was able to score an amazing 10 points while the Hellrazors' Bid Bad Wolfe was shut out. Final score, 87-58. Dutchland wins!!!
Both teams played a phenomenal and exciting game! Lucy Van Belt led in points per jam, averaging 3.83 and White Thrash not far behind with 3.75. Hellrazor, A-Bomb, also had a fantastic performance, averaging 3 points per jam.
