Stinky derby gear
What inspired you to join Dutchland?
I always knew I wanted to try derby, but was ready after I finished college. I saw an event page for orientation on social media and went! Derby has challenged me in lots of ways and the experience has totally made me a stronger human being.
What are you most excited for with DDR?
I’m excited to play with my teammates next season! Our season was cut short (I’m writing this in 2020) so I’m just ready to block my friends.
What are you most nervous for?
I’m nervous before every game… But that totally goes away after I get on the track. Our coaches prepare us well so I know I’m equipped to deal with whatever happens during a bout.
What inspired your derby name and number?
One of my favorite albums (cassette tape, actually) growing up was “Pretty Hate Machine” and my number is based on my birth date.
What do you do outside of roller derby?
I work full time, enjoy tending to my garden, going on adventures with my dog, and studying whatever I’m interested in at the time.
How long have you known how to skate?
When I was elementary-age I learned how to inline skate and played in a roller hockey league. However, I only learned how to skate on quads in Dutchland’s tot class in October 2018.
Where is your favorite place to visit?
The skating rink, downtown Lancaster, arcades, greenhouses, bookstores, record shops…
Where do you hope to be with Dutchland by this time next year?
I’m looking forward to becoming a stronger teammate and playing on our home team.
